My son has been doing lots of new things such as rollin ova, playin while on his stomach, grabbin things & lifts his head up once in a while. I was wonderin if anyone has ideas to help me get him to look up when i or sumone else is talkin to him??? Da only thing that realy attracts him is ceiling fans..lol. I want him to look at me when i talk to him..ive tried toys, musical stuff, clappin & he jus turns his head when sumone tries to talk to him. :)

Maybe try holding something in your hands that interests him and get his attention on what you are holding or do something that sparks his curiosity. Once he has his attention on you, then try to talk to him.

I must ask, and this is meant honestly not as a put-down, what is your first language? I'm guessing that you're not a native English speaker from the spelling in the first post.

To plst 2, ive tried that a few times & he grabs so quick & sometimes puts whatever he has in his mouth..lol. He pays more attention when he at his grandmas & maybe its cause there more than 2 people unlike at home. Hes only 4 1/2, could he jus be young to lift his head up??

To post 3, English. Im so used 2 txting in smaller words only cause it quicker.

To Bella, here's what they did with me to help solve that problem. At that time, M&M's were my favorite candy. So, if I kept my head up for an interval of time, say five minutes, I got a M&M. If I put my head back down during that time, the clock started all over before I could get my treat. Mind, this wasn't done all the time all day or anything, so it wasn't like I was constantly eating candy. But it was one of the ways they worked with me on it. As I got better, the interval of time lengthened out: ten minutes, fifteen, etc. Yes, it was techically bribery, but it worked. So maybe find something he likes, even if it's not food related, but he doesn't get it till he keeps his head up for a certain period of time.

I wonder if he's just too young to look. He is probably just getting used to lifting his head, and perhaps he will be able to do it later.

My first thots are Yes, your wonderful little one is going at their own pace.
I want to say to you, Mama don't worry...
This little precious bundle of love is so young, really almost still a newborn
and seems this ceiling fan holds all the attraction
Your obvious care, love and attentiveness to your baby's every move is to be commended.
It takes awhile for an infant to focus and get acquainted to surroundings.

If there is major concern then certainly check with your baby's doctor
but in the meanwhile love your baby and hold them in tender love

Yeah, 4 months old is a bit young to be giving a baby sweeties to get them looking at you, lol. I'd do as everyone else said in previous posts, just get down on the floor, up close and personal with your son, dangle keys, rattles, mobiles and things in front of him where you know he'll focus on them, but, distance matters. No more than between 20 to 30 centimetres away from his face, whether he's lying down or sitting up. Between birth and around the age of 8 months, all babies are effectively, partially sighted or even, blind if they haven't already mastered opening their eyes and they can only focus on objects or people or well, anything else which interests them with in a maximum, 30 centimetre radius.
